I had never before heard the word thenadays.
Is it a common word or does it have a special application?

but are other sentences correct?

I d never heard of thenadays.  In those days is the commonplace expression.
2 and 3 - OK
4 Code allowed cervitude debtor: doesn t make much sense to me but I would hazard a guess that to keep the contruction you would have to hyphenate the first two words (Code-allowed); a better solution would be to write Servitude for debtors and execution - both allowed under the code -  seemed to be the penalties for all criminal offences or Servitude for debtors - allowed under the code - and execution seemed to be the penalties etc
5 to 10 - OK
11  This discovery deeply influened the advancement of science.
Remainder - OK

Any alternatives?

No, as far as I know thenadays it is not a common expression but nowadays is used quite often.

Hi, I am a little busy now to correct everything but here are some suggestions:

1. Thenadays sounds weird Wacko and very dictionary-like. Replace it with something more common. As for the word draconian it is a formal one but if you need informal or neutral translation I d recommend to use cruel or severe otherwise the sentence can be overloaded with complex dictionary words.

3. To make it closer to the original text: What proof do you have? or What evidence do you have? or What proof/evidence can you provide? It s ok to use proof without -s .

4. Needs some editing: The Code allowed enslaving debtors and the exectuion seemed to be the penalty (or punishment) for all criminal offences (or just say crimes )

8.This one is ok, though, you may want to cahnge the word continues to has been preserved .

11. Preposition on is wrong.

16.I would suggest paraphrasing...Neither tyranny nor dictatorship is a good thing.
