How do I add a video into PowerPoint 2007?

IT Gurus - I need your assistance.

One of my students wants to add a You Tube clip to his PPTX. However, not only is You Tube banned at our campus we will be presenting offline (not connected to Internet) so this means that the usual embed process will not work.

I have downloaded it to RealPlayer and then also converted to Media Player. Now, my question is how do I easily add it to PowerPoint 2007? I have tried �insert movie � but this did not work. I �ve googled but quite frankly I don �t understand all the gobbledygook.

Is there a simple solution?

it �s not so easy but ...

The embed process:

Find the video you want on youtube

�Delete �watch?� and change the following �=� to a �/� (in the web address)

�View / Toolbars / Control Toolbars / More Controls / Shockwave Flash Object

�The cursor is a square now!Drag your cursor to create a rectangular shape

�Right click on the rectangle with a diagonal cross through it.

�Select properties.

�Look for �Movie� and paste the corrected link into there.

Example: "http://www.youtube.com/v/KpPKNlXQD9E"

The Link Method

It´s probably easiest to just add a link to the video.

Find the video on the PC and right click drag it onto powerpoint.

***You cannot move the original video from it´s location.

Hi Wolfy

Thanks for your super quick reply.

I can �t find the Toolbars/Control Toolbars... it �s different in 2007 and the Microsoft mapping workbook has shed no light.

I tried the Link Method but it didn�t work - PPT just kept freezing.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks everyone - I have now successfully done it. This is what you do:

1. Download into AVI format using a convertor such as www.dvdvideosoft.com/

2. Insert it into PPTX via Insert Ribbon-Movie-Movie from file.

3. If you can hear sound but can not see the video then troubleshoot using this site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905167

When you have done this you will be very impressed.
