a student ´s guide according to me is an aid for your work , it isn ´t a person in this case !

A student ´s guide definitely doesn ´t refer to a person. A student ´s guide would be something like a collection of grammar examples to help the student. A self help book to use when the teacher isn ´t there. Hope this helps.
