About comma usage

Savoy: I m here with Pietro Nasta, who just arrived
in New York on a flight from Rome.

This sentence is in book Summit2.

Is the usage of the comma correct, why?
Please help!

I think there should be a comma, because the first part of the sentence (I m here with Pietro Nasta.) could also stand on its own. Please, native speakers, correct me if I m mistaken!! ;) Thanks.

The comma is necessary because it is a non-defining relative clause.
Hope it helps

I think a non-defining relative clause needs commas on both sides. What do you think?

Sometimes only one comma is enough because the sentence finishes.
