Help with a meaning

Hello everyone,

I was reading a text and I came across a word that I couldn t understand. Could someone help me with an explanation?

The sentence says: "Catalonia faired only slightly better than Spain"

What s the meaning of fair as a verb. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for your answers. M_sansanlone, the meaning that you give is the one that fits perfectly, and lovemykids, I couldn t find out the word as a verb either, and I am really intrigued as well.
It might actually be a mistake and maybe it should be fared and not faired.
Thanks again for your help

I also think it would be fared meaning managed, or turned out.
You are right it might actually be a mistake.

No doubt about it, it s a spelling mistake; the verb is fare as in fare better or fare well.
Fair can only be used as a noun or an adjective.
