Dear friends,
We all agree that the file size limits were very low, specially for powerpoints. The purpose was to save space in the web server for the hundreds of new contributions that we have every day.
The fact is that keeping low limits doesn t help us to save space in the web server, because when the file is too heavy we divide it in parts, and those parts could take more space than the original one. Additionally, it is not easy for the rest of users to download all the parts and join them again.
In conclusion, from now on we will have new size limits:
Printables: 500 KB
Powerpoints: 2 MB
In order to keep space in the web server, I will compress the files with NXpowerlite every month.
Anyway, please try to compress your files as much as possible before uploading them, even if they are under the limits.
I ve also created a special page to update your old powerpoints which were divided in parts, and replace them for a single file. It is here:
First you have to upload the new file, and then you will be asked to choose among your powerpoints the ones that you want to replace.
The new file will get the total number of downloads that the old powerpoints had, so you will not lose points.
Greetings,
Victor
