"I was let leave" - Is it correct?

"I was let leave" - Is it correct?

I ve got a request - could you tell me if this sentence is correct. I found it in a grammar book (it was written by a Polish author). I was taught that - let - meaning - allow - in passive voice has such a form
- I let him go
- He is allowed to go.
Is "I was let leave" correct? What does it mean?
Thanks a lot!

I don t use that expression - but it means to be let go- get fired from a job.
If you give someone leave of absence - that means you give them time off.
Otherwise if you fire someone - you let them go.
