Beginning of the school year ceremony

I was wondering if anyone has some good ideas ... I m responsible for putting together the ceremony for the start of the school year (high school); the students are assembled and we have a short (20 min) ceremony including inspirational texts, two or three songs and good wishes to the students.  I ve done it before but was wondering if anyone here has any original ideas? I d really appreciate the help! Thanks in advance!

song - We are the world (M. Jackson) or Lean on Me
recital - what I want to achieve/change for the better this year (perhaps they could make a list and you could put it in rhyme with them)

Hi Johanne, Here s a few songs I ve used time and time again.
Do-ray-mi from The Sound of Music "Let s start at the very beginning...."
You ve got a friend in me from the movie Toy Story
Tell Everybody I m on my Way -  from Brother Bear
Thank you for the music by Abba - a great way to end the ceremony
We are One from Lion King
I usually crop these songs, if you need help on cropping, write me.
You might find a poem or two here: http://www.canteach.ca/elementary/songspoems5.html
Hope something is helpful.Thumbs Up

I just realized that you re students are High School Age. The sites I suggested are meant for smaller kids, sorry.
