Opposite of on the right side...

Hey there,

I have a semi-serious question: What is the opposite of "on the right side"?

"on the wrong side" - if you are talking about right and wrong, good and bad...

"on the left side" - if you are talking about left and right

Cheers,

Linda

Agree with above posters.

In England, for example, people drive on the left side of the road, which is for many here the wrong side. For them, the right side is actually the right side.

Hi Regina,
An obscure reference to "The Life of Brian"s ending song?
"Always look on the opposite of on the right side (or even bright) side of life"?

Much as Zora above; On the right side/On the wrong side     On the right side/On the left side

One more question: What do you actively teach your students?

On the right, on the right-hand side, on the right side?

Drive on the right-hand side of the road but walk on the right side of the path...

Does that make sense?
I m beginning to doubt myself...

Sure, Frank, it all makes sense, for some straneg reason the dictionaries I am using do not give me the "right side" "left side" version....

Personally, I say on the left hand side for both road and footpath, or just simply, keep to the left.  I don t (think I) use left side.

Downunder we are a left hand drive country and as such footpaths, escalators etc follow the same pattern.
