Hi there

I need assistance to do my homework (this sounds ok)
But I could always hire an assistant to do it for me...

Hope this helps

The 1st sentence means you need another person to do your hw - "an assistant"
If what you need is help, I guess the 2nd one is the right one.
Hope I could help
Have a nice day

I could do with an assistant to take care of the dead leaves outside my front door
I could do with an assistant to teach my kids manners -

... any volunteers?

Plemos is exactly right.

And elderberrywine, we have a saying in English, "God helps those that help themselves." So... if you aren t an atheist, maybe you can pray?
