Go down the street and go along the street. When do we use each of them?

maybe one street really goes down and the other one is completely horizontal?

No difference as far as I īm concerned. Just a different way of saying it. Same with "up the street".

In the US, we don īt use "go along the street" nearly as much as "go down/up the street". There īs no difference in meaning, though.
