Perfectly fine, at least in the USA. That �s what we �d say, although we usually drive in the right lane. Wink

Sure.... you could say.. "Look at that idiot... he �s driving in the left lane."  lol 
 
A very American thing to say... as it is considered the passing lane.  ;-)

IN the lane (withIN the lines of the lane)
but you can say
I drive ON the left (side of the road.)
