Good morning  everybody,

I have got a simple question for you. When you go to the doctor, is it to the surgery  or to the medical practice ?
Thanks for your answer

Hi
I go to the doctor s surgery but most of the time we simply say "I m going to the doctor s".
I guess that way we don t have to consider what the group of rooms is called.
Also we say "I m going to the dentist s".
It s interesting because a surgeon works in a theatre" but not the acting type.
Isn t English weird?
Cheers Joy

I go to the hospital. (in Thailand there are no surgeries or doctors practising medicine at home, so the only place to get medical attention is the hospital)

I go to the doctor s.
I see the doctor in his surgery.
My doctor has a practice in a medical centre with several other doctors and health professionals.

Surgery is the room. I equate practice with business .

Hi! It s nice to know how it is called around the world. Thumbs Up

Here in Bulgaria we go to see our GP-s. "go to see my gp"

We can visit surgery (the special health center) at nights or at weekends when our GP isn t at work. "go to surgery"

Have a nice day and dont go to the surgery...hope never happen to u Wink

I would go to a general practioner or an internist. They have there own private practice and sometimes their offices are in hospitals they are affiliated with.

As Ed noted, in USA we go to the doctor s or doctor s office. We might also go to a clinic or urgent medical center. We d never say to the surgery.
