Comenius Assistantship

Hello,
I want to apply for comenius assistanship for our school. If my application is accepted and we are provided with an European language assistant, I am planning to have a speking club and make the assistant help my students improve their English. And, I plan to work with her/him in drama classes or keep him/her active in curriculum.
I am wondering whether there is anyone among us who has ever had comenius assistant and inform me in what kind of activities this assistant worked.
You can also have some ideas about what an assistant does even if you havent worked with any assistant. CAn you please share your ideas with me? Thanks in advance.
Kind regards. |

Hi,
Some years ago I was a language assistant myself and I was incharged of an speaking club too. In general terms, the teacher gave me some details about what they were dealing with during the lessons and my job was to make some activities to improve their oral skills such as games, debates, etc. We always started the lesson with a word of the day, than we read a piece of news from the newspaper, we talked about it and we played some games.
From personal experience I can tell you that communication between the assistant and the main teacher is very important to achieve a goal. Don t be afraid to suggest him/her strategies or materials to deal with the students.
I hope you find this information useful.
Regards ,
