Rewrite these sentences:
How high is your son?
--> What is your son s height?
I wonder whether I can say: WHAT IS THE HEIGHT OF YOUR SON?
Another example: How old is MARY? -
We often say: What is MARY s age?
I wonder whether I can say: WHAT IS THE AGE OF MARY?
THANKS

If you ask "How high is your son?" you are asking how intoxicated (usually by marijuana) he is.  The proper question is "How tall is your son?" or "What is your son s height?"

I agree with douglas - and you can say "what is the age of Mary" technically but it s not so common.  What is Mary s age or how old is Mary would be more frequently used.
