Which option is correct?

Hello my dear colleagues!
I don t seem to know which option is good one in this sentence:

The mother in law, frequently of horrific ... , and usually either about to visit, is still a favourite butt of this kind of humour.

1-sight
2-view
3-appearance

I would go for 1...but is it right?
Taken from a text about the stereotypes.

THANK YOU in ADVANCE! :)

Hi, I think because of the "of" the answer should be "appearance". But, I m not sure... bye...

if the butt is not misspelt then sight seems to be the correct option.

lol I know that the butt word sounds funny in there. However, this word does have another meaning Big smile
" be the butt of sb s jokes " to be a person who is joked about or laughed at
He was fed up with being the butt of their jokes (Cambride Dictionary)

Hi Kate

I thought this was a strange context and wondered myself so I googled it and found it in an article about cartoons so now it makes sense in that context.

Cheers

Definitely "appearance". If it were "sight", that would mean that she had very bad vision, and even then we wouldn t use the adjective "horrific".

I agree with Bruce. It should be "appearance".
