Hi,
I have created a set of books and the main characters are the Funky Funny Monsters. They helped my friend s 6 year old son learn about different things. Some books I have created are for older children but feel free to check them out. My username is HappyLarry. I hope the books help you.

I start with colours, than fruits+ colours: The apple is red...., Than pets + colours. The red hen lives in the red house... and so on. I always try to use the last topics with a new one. year old children like to draw, so let them draw and write the word , they never won t forget.

Aren t 6 year olds fun to work with?  Use concrete materials and flashcards to introduce vocabulary: Fruits, vegetables, animals (Farm, Wild, Sea, Insects...), rooms in a house, furniture...  Use puppets, books and songs.  Some sites have simple stories (check my favourite http://www.agendaweb.com ) and activities (www.starfall.com )  As already suggested, have them make their own books (http://www.makingbooks.com/freeprojects.shtml, http://www.vickiblackwell.com/makingbooks.html )
