Hi, there!

Whats the difference in meaning:

"Do you ever get late for work?"

"Have you ever got late for work?"

and, is it possible: Did you ever get late for work?

Thanks!

We don t use "get" with "late for work", at least in the US. We use "to be". We would say:

Are you ever late for work?
Have you ever been late for work?
Were you ever late for work?

Now, with "get" we could say:

Do you ever get to work late?
Have you ever got (gotten in the US) to work late?
Did you ever get to work late?

Both sentences you give are incorrect.

Correct alternatives:

- Are you ever late for work? (habits and routine)
- Have you ever been late for work? (referring to the past using present perfect without time marker)
- Were you ever late for work? (past simple, possible talking about a previous job)
