Hi Pretty 3
The correct way is: My dad has got an important job and he always works hard.
Hardly means almost not.
If you say: My dad has got an important job and he hardly works, it means he almost doesn t work.

so can we use hard as adverb and adjective?

Yes, Pretty3, that is correct, hard is used both as adjective and as adverb.

Hard is both an adverb and an adjective. As an adverb, it s best to teach it as an irregular one. Hardly, as Adital said, means "almost not" and has no connection to "hard."Wink

In addition, as Adital s example shows, "hardly" comes before the verb.

I hardly know how to answer this. (I almost don t know how to answer this).

They are opposites, I would say.

If you work hard, you work a lot.

If you hardly work, you are mainly idle.

I work hard - a lot (adverb)
Hard work - intensive (adjective)

I hardly work - I almost don t work
