Warmer for a Workshop on Telephoning

Hello Dear Friends,

I m giving a workshop on Telephoning to Intermediate English level adults.  I have plenty of activities, but I don t know what to do as a warmer for a group that will only be together for a one day- eight hour workshop.  I d like to build a sense of trust and togetherness, so they don t feel too self-concious during the workshop, but they may never see one another again, so I m not sure what would be a good warmer.

Any suggestions?

As all ways, bless you and I wish you much success in your endeavors.

Best regards,
Belles

I love the books from Alanna Jones.  There are about 3 of them full of team building activities or for self-esteem, communication etc. If you look on Amazon, they give you a couple of games for free by looking inside the book.  I have used these for Psychology classes as well as ESL.
The titles are:  104 Activities that Build
More Team Building Activities
Team Building Activities for Every Group.

The other thing I love is that they also provide questions to either have the students journal or talk about.

Why not start with a personal story of when you first spoke another language on the phone for the first time, and tell them how it went and how you felt.

Next put them in pairs/groups and ask them to share their first English telephone experience. Who was it to? Why did you have to call/answer? How did you feel?

After a few minutes, stop the Ss and get some feedback. Ask questions and allow Ss to expand on their answers.
