After child birth, a practitioner comes and performs a tumbarumba, which is the act of clampping the  umbilical cord in two places and then cutting between the two clamps. Tumbarumba is done to separate maternal and newborn circulations.
The term is a combination of tum: or tummy (the belly)  +bar: to fasten or block (the flow of blood)+umba (from umbilical cord)
Tumbarumba is actually the first surgical operation that all human beings must go through!!
