I am really confused with this sentence please fill in the space with a word to give the same meaning:
There are only a few concerts this month.
There aren t very ----------------concerts  this month.

I think very many sounds really odd and is not correct, but I m not sure.

I m probably wrong : Here s a discussion about it:

This construction doesn t sound right but seems ok among native speakers :)

Douglas is correct, but the "very" could be easily omitted if you don t like it.

The negation of an emphasizing word like "very" produces the opposite.

"Very many" means a large amount.
"Not very many" means a definitely small amount. It is roughly equivalent to "not many at all".

"Too hot" means more than a person is comfortable with.
"Not too hot" can mean fairly cool, although it can also be a simple negation, meaning that it is hot, but bearably so. The context is needed in this case to determine which is meant.
