Just something to keep you on your toes..........


Keeping someone on their toes is a metaphor meaning you �re stopping them becoming complacent or too comfortable. If you �re standing normally, feet flat on the ground, you �re slow to react to things. If you �ve got your weight on the balls of your feet, you �re much quicker to move. I don �t know where it comes from, but I �d imagine it �s to do with fighting or boxing. 

Keeping someone on their toes is usually a good thing, because it means that you �re keeping them sharp and ready to react to things. It �s often said when you give unexpected tests or challenges. They �ll start anticipating the challenges and responding to them, whereas if you just let them be they might get lazy and let their standards slide. 

But it �s more stressful to be on your toes all the time - some people thrive on it, some hate it
