Which one is correct?

1. What do you want to be in the future? 2. Who do you want to be in the future?

As you can t be anyone else, the answer is 1: What do you want to be in the future? Cheers, Peter

In my opinion, What do you want to be in the future refers to your future profession.

And, Who do you want to be in the future refers to What kind of person would you like to become (your personality traits--humble, less shy, more generous, etc.).

Yes, you could ask, Who do you want to be in the future? It s a kind of aspirational question, if that makes sense.

yes I agree: "who..." = i want to be kinder, more generous, a person who inspires others etc...
"what" = a teacher, a fireman etc...
