in - on - at

Hi,

Can you tell me what the correct preposition is in this sentence:

I was walking ....................... the street ?

I would say : in.

What do you think?

In addition, are these sentences correct:

 - answer the questions as listening to the audio.

 -
make sentneces using the relative clauses  correctly.

Thanks
:)

If you have to choose from on / in /at then in is the best UK English, US English users may have a different answer.
I  prefer:
I was walking along the street.
I was walking down / up the street.
She fell over in the street.
The accident happened in the main street.
The children were playing in the street. (dangerous if there is traffic)

Answer the questions while listening to the audio.
Answer the questions as you listen to the audio.

Make sentences using these relative clauses correctly. (You supply the clauses to be used)

Write sentences which include a relative clause. (Student must create the whole sentence)

Though both in and on could be used,; "in" is the best answer (AmE)

"Walking in the street." - you are not on the sidewalk (BE: pavement); you are actually walking in the area where the cars drive (AE: pavement).

I live on Maple Street.

The kids were playing in the street.

I was walking up/down Cherry Lane.

As in Douglas example, we say ON when the street is named.
If the street is not named we use down or up.

Example: "There She Was Just A Walkin Down The Street singing Doo Wah Diddy-Diddy Dum Diddy Doo."
