BE is lid, not cap.  But nowadays, most everyday pens are retractable (click or twist) and don�t have lids. 
 
Correct: Take the lid off the pen / put the lid (back) on the pen
 
However, both lid and cap are used for whiteboard markers and coloured markers in Australia.

AE is cap.
 
The first is more natural, I guess the second (cap/uncap) isn �t wrong, but it sounds a little awkward.
