Hi there, I need your help! Which one is correct:
There is about half a million people in my town or There are about half a million people in my town???

In theory, ´there are half a million people´, as it ´s a plural, as in, ´half a million people believe that.... ´, not ´half a million people believes... ´ However, in speaking, you are much more likely to hear ´there ´s half a million people.. ´
