Thank you Lynne for choosing my definition. There are so many great words in English that it took me a while to choose one... But here it is, the new word for you all to try and re-define (remember, no real meanings!) Embrocation Have fun! Ill choose a winner as soon as we have some nice daffynitions on the forum! |

Lagarfeld knew it very well as this word means "Embroidered by The Cat" and the cat, of course, was his !

invocation: "a form of words such as ‘In the name of the Father’ introducing a prayer, sermon, etc" bro- a male friend --dirivitive of brother An embrocation is the first round of stupid, over-used on-liners that a bunch of guys (bros) throw-out when they meet-up and are about to drink the first beer. For example: "let the games begin" or "The waitress has brought my beers, what did you guys order?" or any one from such classic movies as Caddyshack, Waynes World, Monty Pythons Holy Grail, or any Arnold Schwarzennegger film. Cheers, Douglas |

Well, I thought everybody knew this. Its another way of saying childish or immature behaviour. EMBROCATION More immature than a child or even an embryo. Example: "Im so fed up with the embrocation of my students during classes." |

@karagozian. No, I got plenty of the readies. Autrement dit, Non, moi, jai beaucoup dargent, ou selon Google traduction Moi, jai plein de preparatifs. But you are wrong! Its a Middle English word, derived from the French embocade meaning the decoration of clothes with embroidery. My heroine Anne Boleyn went bravely to her death in a beautifully embrocated dress.

Embrocation Proclamation, or Proclamation 95, was a presidential proclamation and executive order issued by United States President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863. It changed the federal legal status of more than 3.5 million enslaved African Americans in the designated areas of the South from slave to free. Wikipedia |

maryse peyé is half right: the embroidery half. However, the -cation refers to a vacation, or going on holidays. So an embrocation is a vacation spent with cross stitch, French knots, and needlepoint. Just ask former American football player Rosey Grier: |

Thank you all for playing! I loved your definitions. Interesting to see how many went on the embroidery association. I considered glutenfrees idea of a hugging workshops and spinneys definition of worse that infantile behavior (Sadly I too am familiar with it - there definitely should be a word for that!) In the end I chose Douglass definition. Thanks to his lively examples I could totally see his version of Embrocation happening. So Douglas, congratulations! Its up to you to post the next word! Have fun! PS... the real meaning: a liquid used for rubbing on the body to relieve pain from sprains and strains. "a bottle of embrocation" synonyms: | ointment, lotion, cream, rub, salve, emollient, preparation, application, liniment, balm, poultice, unguent |
