What can my students do for Mother s Day?

Hello dear Teachers:

Now that here in Peru we have virtual education I was wondering what to do with my students to celebrate this important date, virtual of course.....Can you help me please? Do you have virtual education now? Do you have experience on it? Im trying to do my best but its not the same as to have contact with my students, face to face.

Thanks in advance for your ideas! By the way I teach secondary level (3rd and 5th grade)

Regards

Hello, Id say so much depends on what online platforms or messengers or apps or whatsoever you use for teaching... Online classes can be held, for example, with electronic aids being great alternatives of traditional tools like a board: if youre having a class via Skype, the screen of your laptop can be sort of a board for your students provided the screen demonstration mode is on. Theres more than that of course if you study the functionality of your digital instrument(s). As for ideas, try using sites like www.kahoot.com, www.polleverywhere.com (if Im not wrong), www.nearpod.com... They all imply actively using phones, which teens adore doing, especially in a class of an average or big size. Well, going into detail would take so much time and effort, so for now thats enough, I guess. Youve got to take your first steps to see how it works... Regards, Nikita

Maybe your students could make a book of coupons for their mothers.  The coupons could be for nice things they want to do for their mother, and the mothers can cash them in to redeem them.  Examples could be Breakfast in Bed, Helping with kitchen Cleanup, Unlimited Hugs, Watching a movie together, Reading a Book together, making a meal or cookies together, etc.

Students can also make a card for their mothers.

They can fold a piece of paper in half.  Then open the card and write the letters for MOTHER vertically on the left side near the fold of the piece of paper. Next to each letter, they write one adjective (or a sentence) for a personal trait they llike about their mother. On the facing side of the folded page, they can decorate the card with a picture, heart, etc. They can decorate the front of the card, as well (The front of the card appears when the page is folded closed with the message on the inside).

https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/learn-about-card-folds-2904909 shows how to fold cards in various ways.

They can make a digital card instead if they prefer.
https://www.smilebox.com/maker/card-maker/ is one possibility where students add photos to create a card.

https://www.123greetings.com/ is easy. Students choose a premade card and write their own message to customize it.

Students can write a poem for their mother or make a song and perform it.
They could learn the song You are my Sunshine and sing it to their mother on Mothers day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOM6VMkOcqc Another version is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnDtiOvS0O8
