Stolen items, reporting & posting...

Hi,

I guess that link is only  for members with more than 1000 points. If any other member sees a stolen ws we can still write a comment. If we read the comments to a ws before downloading, we ll know if it s stolen. We can still do that, can t we?

That s right Isabel! & that is a useful thing to do. Please include where the original work is from if you can.

Please be careful with comments, though. If something is noted as stolen & the judgement by our peers is that the work is not stolen then, currently, your comment will remain on that members download. This would be very negative advertising for that member!

I feel, personally, that we would be much better off reporting an item (making sure we have the reference noted for peer review) & not commenting. Remember too that there is only a 12 hour window of opportunity before an item will have its sentence imposed by peer review! If an item is stolen then the member who uploaded it will have their points taken off them for stealing or possibly even have their membership revoked.

In the past it has been shown that it is unlikely to stop other members from downloading an item even if there are many stolen comments on the sheet.

Cheers!
