Where do you get reading texts from?

helllo everybody:
dear friends, I always have problems in finding good texts for my students whether I need them to make a worksheet or a test. I have lots of books but usually books include very big texts. I teach different intermediate levels so I need texts that include texts with certain themes like self confidence, tolerance, environment, animal habitats, sports, generation gap, etc...
Can you please give some ideas from you get your reading passages?

Thanks in advance for your help.

have a nice time

I use authentic materials like magazines and newspapers. Sometime the texts may seem difficult but a good idea is to grade the task, not the material.  Good luck Missola!

Hi Missola! I love all the articles on Mary Glasgow Magazines. They have magazines for all levels - Club and Current for advanced students, Team for Intermediate, Crown, Click... I also love Choices and Science world, these last two are American, I think.

Like Sylvie, I also take many texts from English textbooks made by Portuguese authors. All the topics in those textbooks are chosen according to our curriculum.

Finally there is the Net. I just google for the topics I want and spend some hours checking. Sometimes I find something good, sometimes not.

Have a nice weekend.

I usually do take texts from books or the net and adapt it to suit my students, but the problem is that I want new material. I don t want to repeat myself. That s why I asked for your help.
Mena: Thanx for your suggestions and I will check these magazined and see if they have useful material that suit my students.

Hi! I have had some problems like you about reading texts but the best solution is adapting the text to your student s level. This way is more time saving than searching for a text. Thrust me Wink
