Hi, good morning,
You re so right! This topic has been discussed many times. To the best of my knowledge the last conversation has occurred 2 days ago. I ve got trouble pasting it, sorry... Please do this following forum search: date: May 27, 2009 - Topic: a thank you button. You be able to read all the posts... You ll see that many of us are tired of these faceless, nameless members who never leave a note...
Have a lovely day,

Unfortunately, you will have to get used to it...
My most download worksheet has been downloaded 822 times and has 104 comments, which means that 87.35% of all the downloaders are total strangers to me...
I am not even mentioning my tutorial... (800 downloads, 141 comments, 82.37% of total strangers). It took me several hours to write it because I am not a specialist.
Have a nice weekend!

Hi everybody! I guess our community is divided into two parts. Some of us always leave comments and thus encourage the authors (so they have a right to be treated the same way!) and the others who do not do it, thus they have a right to be treated the same way too. :)

Hi everybody,
I agree that leaving a comment is something nice. In fact, I think I have to leave a comment for every ws I download (and I do) ... moreover I get happy when I see comments on my wss.
But this is not the point.. the most important thing when people download your wss (and use them in their classes) is how far you have contributed to many classes all over the world.
I feel grateful to those who provided me with such wonderful wss for my classes. .. and I feel proud when I think about my wss being used in the other side of the world.. even without leaving a comment.
Someone on the site here once said that "Teachers are like candles....". and remember that palm trees give us dates waiting for nothing.
So .. CHEER UP
Best wishes for you all and a happy weekend.

Some cultures, like here in Hong Kong, seldom give a thanks. It takes about 5 seconds to type ty and that is enough to show appreciation. I think it is because people are becoming more and more ungrateful and take things for granted. I try to say a thank you whenever I download a ws. Even saying ta , which is British for Thanks , makes the author feel good. How hard is it to type that?

Hi!
Well, I couldn t agree more! I like getting thank you messages! They make me feel proud of my work in a way.. but I also like the idea of contributing with classes all over the world as asa3000 said... so considering that I don t care if I don t know who downloads my worksheets...
On the other hand, I don t like those strangers who NEVER leave a comment or just a thank you note and not only about my own worksheets but -all the time- I find other members worksheets with hundrends of downloads but just a couple of messages and that makes me think that lack of gratitude is the worst feature a person could have...
But.. as frenchfrog said.. I guess we have to get used to it... it won t change, I think... so we should ignore it...
Hugs from Uruguay and have a nice weekend!!

I agree with most of you. Spagman63 may be true that in some cultures saying thank you is not very useful, but another important point is that there are lots of people who are not really involved with the site.
Some of the members are here just to get some profit by downloading useful, original worksheets.those people don t care about leaving comments, participating in the forum, sharing sites, answering questions, or even uploading a valuable worksheet!!!! See the reported worksheets and you ll see some users account with most, if not all, stolen or copy and paste contributions. They just want to get points to download wss; they don t want to share anything, even comments!!! |

I agree that it is preferable to see comments but actually I don t think we should be that pathetic about somebody not leaving one. As for me I am quite satisfied with the number of "thank you"s I already have and I don t think anything about the people who don t leave them. Somehow you decided for everybody that not saying thank you is very rude...as for me I don t agree with that at all!! As already mentioned by someone the importance of saying these two words aloud(or writing) is different in various cultures and for various people. BEING grateful means a lot everywhere but you can never know if those who leave messages really are grateful or just stick to the crowd. And what really shocks me that it is the tenth or more topic about this that I see in the forum...it seems there is nothing more important(except moderators and deleted worksheets of course ). And I ll reveal a great secret: in one time of three I don t leave a comment for various reasons: being in a hurry, forgetting, not liking the work at all etc. Now throw rotten tomatoes at me, please |

I don t care about Thank Yous. I just would like to know where my work goes. Actually, you don t have to leave a comment, just press "Send" in the "Send a comment" section!!! Your avatar will show. I am more interested in knowing WHO downloaded my worksheets.

Frenchfrog, your last post was very funny. I don t think it s realistic to believe that you can remember all the 800 people who have downloaded just one of your worksheets. I m sure it takes long just to read them. And if you take offence at the fact that somebody hasn t left a comment, they can take offence at the fact that you can t even remember them . Perhaps when somebody leaves "Thank you" or whatever it is after your works you have to send back a private message "You re welcome" or "Thank you for your comment" - 800 times . Saying "Thank you" sounds as fair as saying "You re welcome". Best wishes!
