A FUN GAME TO LEARN VOCABULARY FOR ALL AGES -- Part 2/3
The idea of this speed memory is drawn from Reinhard Staupe´s card game Monkey Memory published by Playroom Entertainment. I have created my own cards with my own words, and use the game for a FUN oral vocabulary check as the students must find out a missing object in each round. You also can vary the difficulty level. Instructions given in Part 1.
There are one solution card as well as one set of cards, both showing the same 10 objects, a gameboy, a hat, a coconut etc. Lay the solution card out for all to see, select 7 objects, shuffle the deck, draw one card randomly and hide it. Then deal the remaining 6 cards face up very quickly on top of each other and cover the last with your hand. Players must now determine which card was removed or rather stolen by the monkeys.
Due to the oversized files the game had to be divided into 3 uploads:
1. Monkey Memory Game -- Part 1 -- Object Cards & Instructions
2. Monkey Memory Game -- Part 2 -- Solution Cards
3. Monkey Memory Game -- Part 3 -- Point Cards
I frequently adjust them to the needs of my students. Mostly, I use this game to review vocabulary but it is also a great means for a 5-minute break when the students cannot focus on class. You can easily paste your own clipart that covers the vocabulary of your class in the provided templates.
