Leader of the pack - The Shangri-Las
1. Elicit musical genres - sts talk about them.
2. Play tic-tac-toe with a CD of songs - divide class into groups and play songs from different genres. Sts have to guess which genre the song is from.
3. Give the sts sequence of events from Leader of the pack. Get them to put them into order. eg. Betty´s friends asked her where she met jimmy. 2. She met Jimmy at the candystore. etc.
4. Play the song and sts listen and put events in order.
5. Pre-teach vocab - pack, folks, put someone down, fall for someone, drive away.
6. Give worksheet out and have sts listen again and fill in the blanks. Go through words. They are past simple reg and irreg verbs.
7. Ask sts questions eg. where did Betty meet Jimmy? she met him at the candystore. Did Betty´s parents like Jimmy? no, they didn´t.
8. Discussion questions - How old was Betty? she was at school. Were her parents wrong? How would you feel if you were Betty?
