easy team game based on idioms / sing like a saucepan - a love handle
Here is a team game based on French idioms that have been translated word for word in English.
The aim is for the pupils to translate word by word the english version, and discover the French idioms.
Examples:
"give jam to pigs" = "donner de la confiture aux cochon"
"cabbage cabbage" = "chou-chou"
"sing like a sausepan" = "chanter comme une casserole"
"a love handle" = "une poignée d´amour"
There are 90 idioms to find out in the activity sheet.
You can either give it as an activity, or just keep it when you´ve got spare time in the end of the lesson and do a quick team game where you read the translated version and the pupils must be quick to find the answer to get points for their team.
If your students are not French you can still take the idea and do it with the idioms proper to your language.
NB: Ce concept existe avec le jeu "sky my husband" mais la traduction est inverse (le jeu part d´idioms anglais et le traduit mot à mot en français...Mais cela est trop dur pour des élèves de collège...Je suis donc parti d´idioms français...La version étant toujours plus facile que le thème en traduction...). Ceci pour préciser que ce n´est pas du plagiat. Seul le concept a été repris. Au lieu de faire du thème , j´ai fait de la version.
