I use this activity with adult ESL students. The students are encouraged to speak to each other to get as many names under each category as possible. This allows them to find similarities and things in common with the other students enabling the learning process to begin faster.

 Vocab list, other money phrases, and reading article. This is geared towards adults. I do an activity by asking the students (in the previous class) to bring something new and set a really cheap price limit. They bring things like hair clips, key chains, candy bars, stickers, etc and they barter/haggle during an activity at the end of the class...
