 This is a survey for the story "David Swan" by Nathaniel Hawthorne. To prepare the students for the story theme, have them interview an American student and question the American about his or her beliefs about "fate" or "the future."

 		 Count & Non-Count Nouns List
 Here is a list of count and non-count nouns. Cut up the words and have the students categorize the words into "count" or "non-count." As a supplemental (pronunciation) aspect, have the students then categorize the COUNT nouns ONLY into the /s/, /z/, or /Iz/ endings. They will have to add "-s" to the count nouns and sound them out.
