In Class Discussion Topics x 8
HI! I have a class of weak primary school beginners. This term I introduced a weekly in class discussion to get the kids talking. Each week I give them a topic sheet with 3 or 4 questions for homework, so they can prepare the answers. We then sit in a circle and take turns to ask the questions to each other. I use a ball that is passed across ...

Taylor Swift- You Belong With Me
My students love singing and its a great way to practice listening and pronunciation. This is quite a difficult worksheet as a lot of words are blanked out. I would let my students listen to the song 3 or 4 times then we practice songing it once or twice then have a battle between two groups in the class. Good fun for a Friday arvo!

Metaphor match
A fun and challenging game I made when teaching my students about metaphors. I divided my class into 4 groups (of 4) and gave each group a cut up copy of this sheet. They then raced to match the common Australian metaphors. The first group to have all correct won a prize. I corrected as I walked around to make it a bit faster. The sheet is in ...

Narrative scaffold
This is a worksheet designed to help students with writing narratives. They read two short, simple narratives and try to find the elements to fill in the table. (Title, orientation, complication, resolution, etc.) I have found that it really helps my students writing to disect the elements of another piece of writing.

Narratives
This worksheet is a writing scaffolding exercise. It contains two short stories. After reading students have to fill in a table to show the different parts of a narrative (orientation, complication, resolution, etc.) I found it was hard to get my students to use these elements in their writing without showing them very simple, specific examples f...
