Three Sheep Songs
Easter season is a good time to teach these three nursery rhymes: Baa Baa Black Sheep, Little Bo Peep, and Mary Had a Little Lamb. There are lots of videos of these songs on Youtube or Youkou (China) and the kids love to sing them. I used this worksheet as a summary review close activity. Good vocabulary building and verb tense practice.

Taj Mahal Dialogue
I have uploaded several short dialogues that I have made from stories in our reading books. This enables the students to have a speaking opportunity that is more colloquial and natural than reading from the text. This particular article was from the National Geographic Series.

Summer Olympic Word Search

I found that my Chinese students always "translated" the upper case word bank into lower case so I changed the puzzle to start with. Also, I used football instead of soccer; I put some two word...

Shanghai Expo Dictation/Cloze Part 1
I intended to submit this as a ppt but it wouldnt upload. However, it can easily be turned into a ppt. I use ppt for cloze to save paper. The background information can be used as a study activity or as a dictation exercise.

Chinas Relentless Pursuit of Excellence
This is an article I wrote for the Indianapolis Star which details the incredible sacrifice Chinese high schoolers and their parents make for college preparation and acceptance. It also details some of the differences between the life of a Chinese high school senior and a U.S. high school senior.
