I started the lesson with an enlarged copy of the official advert using the over-head projector and then handed out these biographies. Each group chose one but no group was allowed to describe a player that another group had already described which led to a certain amont of improvisation which was the aim of the exercise.

Let�s play shop: 2 pages GROUP WORK [editable]
Great for small groups but I�ve used it as a pairwork too. In groups of 4 one pupil is the shop assistant the others customers when they�ve asked all their questions they change shop or partner. Then they compare shops and say where they would or wouldn�t shop and justify so it also reactivates the comparative (cheap/expensive)

Henry VIII Wives : SPEECH CARDS PART 1
PART 1 (a set of 2) Hand-out a card per group and give them time to organize a biography. I did not allow them to write anything at first. Then to follow up I used my Henry VIII mini-book that you can find here on ESL resources.
