Gerund Information Gap/Interview
This is an information gap that students have a lot of fun with. Its a great activity to do with a class early in the term. It helps them practice the verbs that are followed by Gerunds too.

Introductory Find Someone Who...
This is a great activity for the first day of class. I begin by putting an OHP up and elicit from students how to ask their classmates about the various questions. We review wh-questions versus the yes/no versus the present perfect questions. Its a great grammar review and warm-up too. You can have students circulate and try to get a BINGO or see ...

Review of Gerunds and Infinitives Game
I adapted this board game from one another teacher gave me. It works great to review the basic rules for using gerunds and infinitives. Students love it.
NOTE: The formatting in the preview looks like the grid cuts off on the first page. However, I downloaded it myself just to make sure, and it downloads in its complete form.

The students read the question aloud and answer using a gerund. I usually have students pick 5-10 questions to interview a native speaker as a follow-up for home...

Gerund Pairing Activity
This is a great warm-up or lead-in when introducing Gerunds after prepositions. Cut up the cards and students find the partner that completes their question. I have students share their questions and answers with the class as I uncover the questions on an OHP. Then the pairs share their answers with the class.

Valentine "Mad-lib" Verb Tense Review
My students have loved this activity for years. I pull it out around Valentines Day to review parts of speech. It works like a mad-lib, if you are familiar with them. Students work in small groups or pairs to come up with random words using the parts of speech listed. Then, they insert the random words into the "Valentine." I put a copy of the let...
