Text Talk Warmer
I use this as a warmer to classes about the internet or mobile phones. Simply cut out the different sides of the worksheet and get students to put them together. Afterwards you can get them to write text messages or emails to each other with as many different "text talk" words as possible.

A quick activity to help students get used to the 3: sound and its different spellings. (er, wor, ear, ir, ur and so on)

Critical Listening
I use this as a way to help my students listen critically. After I have presented them with the interview I ask each of them to go home and listen to an interview themselves and write 5-8 multiple choice questions.

Top 10 inventions
Cut titles and numbers off each invention on the list. Get students to debate name the order of importance (according to a group of scientists) of the inventions then have each student write 2 multiple choice questions about their invention. Next get the other students to answer the questions.

Minimal Pair Game
With these minimal pairs I get my students to stand across the room from each other and call out/whisper one of the words. Their partners have to write down what was said.
