Students need to count the pictures and write a sentence with the noun in plural. It is a first introduction into plurals and reviews numbers and have/has.. I�ll give it as a homework sheet.

Students need to fill the gaps with the present continuous of the verb in brackets. I brought the original voice only version in the beginning of the lesson and the �modern� version with the drum beat at the end, a bit of musical education as well ;)

some students were absent when we did a writing activity on �can� �can�t� and �like to�. Rather than writing everything on the board as we did then, I�ll give them this page so they have the explanation and the spelling in front of them. They can choose what to use to write about themselves...

match joke to punch line
3 pages of jokes. just copy on colored (thick) paper, cut into cards and mix up. (I made a set out of every page so it is not too difficult). In small groups students match the joke to the punch line and read the funniest one to the entire class. Reading comprehension made fun!

dictation on common irregular verbs in past simple
3 different dictation sheets. I made little stories where students need to fill in a verb in past tense. Each sheet has about 6 verbs they had to learn by heart. The verbs are among the most common and therefore important ones for them to know.(sat, wrote, bought, read, knew, woke, thought, found, felt etc. etc.)
