Marriage Idioms
An exercise on idioms about marriage. B1 to B2 level. It starts with a standard gap-fill exercise where students try and guess the words that go in the gaps (get them to give you an example using the idiom). After that, there is a short quiz on the origins of the expressions. An answer key is provided.

Horror Story
This is an old story that has been told time and time again which I have turned into a "guess-what-happened-next" activity. Read the instructions and off you go. This could also be used as a means to practicing connectors. Perhaps not a good idea for the younger classes!

Personality Traits - Team Leaders
Similar to my other worksheets but with this one the adjectives are compound adjectives and the objective is to put each person into a team that is best suited to their skills. You can get them to debate who goes where once they have done all the vocabulary and read the boxes out loud.

Idioms Quiz: Part 2
Print, laminate and cut out the cards. Organise the class into two teams. Take one card at a time and read out the first question (or give to the students to read). Teams must choose A, B, or C, as the answer. One point is given for a correct answer. The origin of the idiom is then read out with an additional point given for a correct answer.
