I am now, after more than 5 decades in the work force, officially semi-retired. New hobby: gardening. Old hobby restarting: table tennis. I still have some classes to teach and materials to design, many of which I will continue to share with the dear members of ESLPs. You may come across my materials on Facebook and my blog.

The game is called "Get a Present" and I will tell you a little about it each day and put all the info together in the end. The cards do take time to make so do be patient; as if I am. You can see by the question marks that each card has only one question. You can put a twist in the game when the answer is No, she isnt., the person asking the qu...

Its a girls world: crossword and activities with key
This crossword is best used after using the associated flash cards and posters (check my account for these). It contains 4 tasks for your students. The tasks, not necessarily in this order, are: Complete the sentences with the appropriate verb, give each picture its correct number, give each boy a name and complete the crossword. Now use the cro...

Marva Collins Phoneme Cards 13-16 of many
After watching The Marva Collins Story on Youtube and seeing some interesting posters on her classroom wall I designed these cards which can be used as game cards, flashcards and posters. Whenever you practice a sound do it with gestures and the anchor words, for example /m/ /m/ muffins and do it every lesson until they thoroughly know them all. Y...

Clipit Cards 1-20 of 60
Print, laminate and cut out the cards. Scatter the cards and give each child a clothespin/peg. The child attaches it to one of the words and, if correct, keeps the cards. These can also be used in flash card games.

Where are the animals? in colour and greyscale with key
I had a similar puzzle up here a couple of years ago but it was in B & W and I didnt know the source of the picture. Anyway I have redesigned it and hopefully improved on the original. Students would do best to write the prepositions on the right before attempting the exercise. If need be do something with animal names before giving them the works...

Irregular Plurals Boardgame
Here is a boardgame which could force me to call a "dice" a "die". Sure sounds politically incorrect, "DIE please!", so Ill stick with "dice" for both the singular and plural, though you may have your own preferences. Others: sheep-sheep, foot-feet, child-children, tooth-teeth, ox-oxen, man-men, mouse-mice, elf-elves, goose-geese, woman-women, wo...

3 pages of Phonic Fun with er: worksheet, story and key (#19)
Hi, See my account for other worksheets in this series. The stories are classified as "decodable", but unlike many so called decodable stories these have over 90 percent decodable text as opposed to the 40- 60 percent found in most "phonic readers" I mix sentence fragments with grammatically correct sentences as fragments are often easier for beg...
