Before reading Bridget Jones
Before reading Bridget Jonesīs diary, I use this file to prepare my students.
From the book covers, they can get the title and author of the book. They can guess that it is about a woman, love... They can also guess that it is funny thanks to the second cover.
Thanks to the definition of "diary", they can imagine what the text will look like. They have to prove that it is fictional ( the name of the author is different from the name of the character ). They may refer to Anne Franckīs diary hich is autobiographical.
Thanks to the film posters, they will guess that it is a love story, that the heroin has probably problems choosing between two men, that she is addicted to food. They may know the actors and guess that it seems to be a comedy.
