My Favorite Disaster Movies
"John and Sarah love movies, especially movies about natural disasters. They are talking about their favorite disaster movies. Help them by making sound effects for words like rain, water, wind, thunder, tremors, erupt, and explosions."
This is a read-aloud activity that I created to use with a unit on natural disasters. The underlined words are key vocabulary from the unit, and the words in bold were signals for the students to create corresponding sound effects. I read aloud the text, and the students made the sounds as I read the bolded words. On the second and third readings, you can choose students to read aloud while their classmates continue the sound effects.
There are several comprehension/extension questions on the second page.
