The Michael Jackson Memorial Service Begins

Dear Roney, I accept your point of view but I have to pay homage to a great professional who changed the music I danced since I was a child. I m not questioning his personal life. Maybe a professional psychologist can talk about that, not me.

I grew up listening and dancing his songs and admiring his professionalism as a singer and great dancer. These days for me are not only about the death of a person but also about the revival of my teen times. Later on, as an English teacher, I had the opportunity to teach his songs not only becuase I chose them but also because my very young students asked me to do so.

Finally, dear Roney,  have you thought that different cultures approach the death issue in different ways??? For example, we would have never  done a funeral like this. But we accept it because it was done in the American fashion.

I respect your opinion Roney, but I suppose I m not like "most Americans." I am currently teaching in Japan and am constantly seeking out information from back home. All of this coverage on the death of Michael Jackson has given me another way to connect with my students out here.
You are right when you say that he does not deserve to be put on a pedestal, but then again who really does? That was part of what gave Michael such broad appeal; he was an imperfect Icon for an imperfect world. I m not trying to start an argument (there has been enough of that going on in the forum lately) If Michael has taught us anything it s that we should all do our part to try to heal the world, make it a better place, for you (yes, even you Roney) and for me and the entire human race(including Roney!)

R.I.P. Jacko and thanks for the memories.
