Lessons with humour

Hello everyone! I think that we need to implement in teaching process as much funa s possible. Now I m preparing a lesson plan to teach Past Perfect and I want to make a game with students. The idea is to show funny pictures to students and ask them why did it happen or how did it happen. STudents have to answer using the sentences with the past perfect tense, for instance why did it happen? It happened because the man had eaten all his favourite cookies , etc. I need your help with the funny pictures to choose from. And your advice should I provide students with the cards (possible expressiions in initiative form) or should it be their own initiative. Thanks in advance, Natalya |

Dear Natalya,
it s a great idea. I love using humour in class. I used one episode of Mr Bean to do what you suggested, only we practised future tenses, because I pressed pause from time to time and they guessed what would happen in their opinion. Your idea is fantastic. By all means, use pics you choose the 1st time (it s not difficult to find them - just google funny images), but let your sts bring their own next time, because it s always fun and useful to involve them as well. You can also use a video if that s available in your classroom - play a clip and press pause.... Great idea, thanks for sharing, I think I ll use it myself this autumn...

I like your idea and I hope you can share the final outcome with all of us. I know I would love to have this lesson plan+pictures.

If I were you I would make it a powerpoint presentation... I would provide several verbs in base form. (eat, phone, watch...) the game will be easier then...
try these images: http://www.holybug.com/funny-image-2.htm
your powerpoint presentation could be used for present perfect - what has JUST HAPPENED? OR past perfect revision --> The car broke, because the driver HADN T paid attention / had been eating sandwich / had been telephoning......
Good luck, please let me know (PM), if you upload your past perfect game at eslprintables. Thanks for a great idea !
