Hi
He looks likes his father means that "he" has physical features similar to his father. He is similar in appearance or character.
He likes his father means that he somehow enjoys or approves his father. |

No, the meaning for both the sentences is entirely different. He looks like his father means that he resembles his father. (similar to; somewhat resembling). Secondly, it is used as a preposition in this sentence. He likes his father means that he is fond of his father. like is used as a verb here and the sentence is in the Simple Present Tense. The word like is used as various parts of speech like Noun, Adjective, Adverb, Verb, Conjunction and Preposition.

In a perfect world everyone likes his father but unfortunately it is quite possible to look like your father but not like your father.

He s like his father. refers to character - What s he like? refers to personal characteristics, What does he look like? refers to physical appearance. |

Anita, He s like his father. refers to character - Not always. You can say, "He s like his father. He prefers pizza with anchovies." It s not always a matter of character. Like most things in English, it depends on context. I think this fact is often overlooked.
